Changing our mind

Well we have certainly had plenty of time to deliberate and originally we came to the conclusion that the perfect roaming vehicle for our needs was the good old VW T25 like the Westfalia variant. This we posted with our thought process in a previous post, but since we have done a little more research to find an alternative that may just fit our requirements even more so.

The down side to this decision will mean a lot more time and effort on our part to achieve our goal and prep the van for roaming.

Well as you can see from the slides here, we have decided on a modern panel van like the ever popular Mercedes Sprinter that will require a total internal fit out. We found these images when exploring the internet and they are great examples and something that we now aspire too.

I don't think ours will have a full paint re-spray like the example above/ but the effort does make a commercial vehicle look more trailblazing with a change of colour and fancy graphics. Its more likely to stay white like the example below with the addition of some appropriate graphics later down the road.

What we do like about this image above is the use of the long roof through the use of a decent roof rack, to place bulky items that you don't necessarily need to get hold of day to day. Again the cost of such a substantial item will prohibit us from fitting one straight away, but we would like to think we can fit our own at some point to help with storage.

One dilemma we are currently pondering before we purchase the van is whether we should buy the long wheel or medium wheel base chassis. The impact internally will be dramatic with the medium wheel base model requiring a little more thought and clever solutions to fit the furniture and storage solutions to meet the families needs. The obvious answer then would be to go with the long wheel base, but we may have to park this from time to time near or around our house. This could be to large a vehicle to have sitting in he vicinity. ONE STILL TO CONCLUDE ON.

So now we have landed on a modern panel van, we now have the task of working out how we want to fit it out. I hope to cover this thought process in the next few post as the options are considerable as this is a particularly popular van to use around the word with some very imaginative and innovative examples out there.
